While her daughter, 12-year-old Leah, is giving her biological mother the silent treatment, “Teen Mom” Amber Portwood has signaled that she doesn’t care to “impress” people. Leah said she didn’t want to talk to Portwood because she hurt her stepmother, Kristina Anderson, by calling her a “homewrecker” and a “whore” on social media on September 28’s episode of “Teen Mom OG.” Despite Portwood’s apology to Leah, which included sending a video to ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley and asking him to play it for their daughter, the 12-year-old said she didn’t want her mother in her life.
According to The Sun, Portwood shared a video from rapper Nicki Minaj’s 2016 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on October 1 just days after the September 28 episode aired. The “Anaconda” rapper was speaking about not needing other people’s approval.
“You can’t even impress people, no matter how great your life is,” Minaj told Ellen DeGeneres. All you have to do is be yourself and be happy, rather than trying to win everyone’s approval. It’s better just to keep those things sacred… I have just learned over the years to let things come and go as they’re going to come and go. ”
The video has been viewed over 9 million times.
Leah Wasn’t Ready to Accept Her Mother’s Apology
Portwood apologized for missing her daughter’s milestones in an emotional letter to Leah. “I know I missed some very important times in your life, times that a mother should not miss,” she admitted, “while I was still trying to understand my own life.”
“I am truly sorry for the things I did to separate us,” she added. “I never intended to harm you.” I think about you every day, and no matter what it takes, I will never stop trying to mend our relationship. I’ll always be in love with you. Whatever happens, you will always be my heart. ”
At first, Leah was speechless. “I mean, I’m sure we have fond memories of each other… But I couldn’t tell if the crying was genuine, so I’m not sure what to make of it,” she explained. “I’m not sure I can forgive her, especially now…” ”
Portwood Accused Leah of ‘Turning’ on Her
Portwood revealed it had been “months” since she and Leah spoke to executive producer Larry Musnik.
“I feel like I’ll never win,” admitted the Indiana native. “It’s been a couple of months, to be precise… I wanted us to have a wonderful co-parenting family, which I thought we did until things got weird. Then Leah started acting strangely and turned on me all of a sudden. ”
Portwood, 31, has promised to fight for his relationship. She explained, “Leah is my daughter.” “This isn’t her,” says the narrator. She doesn’t treat me this way. Even if I accept responsibility for every wrongdoing I’ve ever committed, it never feels like enough. ”
The “Teen Mom OG” star pondered aloud how many times she’d have to apologize to Leah before she could be forgiven. “All I can say is I’m sorry and I’m going to try to move on,” Portwood said. “I can’t sit here and make her believe things about me that aren’t true because I’m her mother.” Kristina Shirley Slams Amber Portwood’s Instagram Rant
