Despite facing a barrage of criticism from viewers, “Teen Mom OG” star Amber Portwood received support from one of her co-stars.
“Idc what anyone says..” Mackenzie Douthit McKee said she was “rooting” for the Indiana native after she apologized to her estranged daughter, 12-year-old Leah, in an emotional video on the September 28 episode of “Teen Mom OG.” After Portwood’s segment aired, she tweeted, “I’m rooting for Amber.” McKee received dozens of fan responses, many of whom were perplexed by her message.
“Root for Leah.”
“Her mother did it,” read one of the most popular responses. “Putting the blame on someone else rather than yourself demonstrates a great deal..” Amber is blaming Kristina for her mistakes when she should be blaming herself! ”
“I’ve been rooting for her and defending her for years, but she has to take responsibility for her own actions at some point,” another person said. “She believes the rift in her relationship with Leah is due to someone “in her ear,” demonstrating that she still doesn’t understand. A third viewer added,
“Root for Leah.” “In this case, the child..” Amber isn’t in need of it. ”
McKee, 26, is one of the newest cast members of “Teen Mom OG.” While Portwood has been with the show since the beginning, McKee was promoted to “TMOG” in 2019 after Bristol Palin left. McKee and her husband Josh had previously begun filming “Teen Mom 3,” which was eventually canceled by MTV. She and Josh have three children: a 10-year-old son Gannon, a 7-year-old daughter Jaxie, and a four-year-old son Broncs.
Portwood & Leah Haven’t Spoken in ‘Months’
Portwood and daughter Leah haven’t spoken in “months,” according to Portwood. After Portwood posted a video on Instagram calling Leah’s stepmother Kristina Anderson a “whore” and a “homewrecker,” Leah cut off contact with her biological mother, whom she referred to as “Amber” in last week’s episode. ”
“I love Kristina,” Leah told her father, Gary Shirley, “and [Portwood] tried to hurt someone I love, and I can’t love someone who hurts other people.”
Shirley urged his daughter to talk to Portwood and express her feelings. She said of Portwood, “Nobody tells her anything.” “I’m not interested in having it fixed..” That isn’t something I require. ”
Portwood Suggested She Wasn’t Interested in Impressing People
Portwood worried about how long it would take Leah to forgive her in the September 28 episode, but on October 1 she posted a video in which rapper Nicki Minaj talked to Ellen DeGeneres about not trying to impress people anymore. The Sun shared a screenshot of her Instagram story post, which cost
“You can’t even impress people no matter how great your life is,” Minaj said at the time. All you have to do is be yourself and be happy, rather than trying to win everyone’s approval. It’s better to keep those things sacred… I’ve just learned to let things come and go as they’ll come and go over the years.
